The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner: Worksheets, Checklists, Etiquette, Calendars, and Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
This practical companion to The Knot Complete Guide to Weddings in the Real World acts as a stand-alone guide to the nuts and bolts of planning a wedding. The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner is where the bride and groom can record wedding ideas, create budget guidelines, check items off their to-do list, generate the guest list, store contact information for their wedding vendors, and get tips and advice on the best way to plan their big day. Chapter by chapter, the planner walks the bridal couple through each major step: for example, choosing the reception site, picking a photographer, and deciding on a menu. Author Carley Roney and the editors of The Knot Web site have talked with both wedding professionals and hundreds of thousands of brides and grooms, and have a good idea of the necessary ingredients for a successful wedding. Most helpful and thorough are each chapter's "Questions to Ask" checklists and the "Knot Knowledge" tips, which include money-saving ideas. The book also contains a gift log, a budget tracker, and a wedding-day phone contacts sheet. Roney offers loads of helpful advice, such as recommending that the bride and groom declare "wedding free zones" where the couple makes time for activities together that have nothing to do with planning the wedding. Each chapter also includes her down-to-earth answers to commonly asked questions, such as whether it's appropriate for a relative to host a shower or if the wedding couple should pay for guests' travel expenses. With all of its tips, advice, and organizers, The Knot Ultimate Wedding Planner may just be, next to a wedding coordinator, the best way for modern couples to ensure their wedding is a smoothly run, stress-free affair

Bridal Bargains, 8th Edition: Secrets to throwing a fantastic wedding on a realistic budget (Bridal Bargains)
I just got engaged a few months ago, and another bride-to-be recommended this book. I've already found it to be extremely helpful in my planning, as the book thoroughly reviews your options for various aspects of the wedding such as bride/bridesmaids dresses, invitations, photography, etc. I particularly liked the lists of suggested questions for vendors--when I emailed one photographer with some of the questions in the book, he wrote back and said "you couldn't have asked better questions if I had given them to you myself!" I've actually found the book to be less helpful in the area of saving money. This might be partly due to the fact that we're having a pretty small wedding--we only expect about 40 guests to attend, and we're not having a bridal party. Another minor negative is that when I tried some of the websites in the book, the URLs were no longer valid; although they talked about use of the internet in planning quite a bit, I wish they had addressed this area even more, especially use of email to get information from potential vendors. Overall, however, this is a great book that you definitely will use frequently in your planning--I find myself referring to my copy again and again.

Simple Stunning Weddings: Designing and Creating Your Perfect Celebration
The three biggest trends in weddings today are simplicity, personalization, and color. Wedding design expert Karen Bussen highlights these elements as she shows couples how to design their own weddings without going crazy or broke. Simple Stunning Weddings is the first wedding design book to focus on the where of the wedding. Location is the first and most important decision brides and grooms must make: everything else flows from that. Bussen showcases 12 popular wedding settings, including the city loft, country inn, art gallery, botanic garden, and private club, and demonstrates how to make them extraordinary. With the site as the starting point, she creates unifying themes with color, flowers, and personal touches. She explains how to deal with vendors, how to spend the wedding budget, and when it makes sense to hire a specialist. Sharing all her trade secrets, Bussen teaches the power of simplicity and the impact of color, which can be tailored to any budget, always to stunning effect: substituting cotton tablecloths for silk in the same eye-dazzling color combinations, for example, or creating striking flower arrangements using only one or two types of blooms. Whether for a barefoot union on a beach or a formal affair in a hotel ballroom, this fully illustrated, information-filled book is like having Bussen on hand as your personal wedding designer. AUTHOR BIO: KAREN BUSSEN is one of Manhattan's most exciting wedding designers. Her work has been featured in such magazines as Modern Bride, Martha Stewart Weddings, Home, Food & Wine, and Interior Design. In the past six years, she has designed more than 100 weddings. ELLEN SILVERMAN's photographs have appeared in Charmed Bracelets and New Soul Cooking (both STC).

Tying the Knot: The Complete Wedding Organizer
I absolutely love this wedding planner. I was doing some searching for the most flexible one and found this 3 ring binder type. It is a soft cover binder comes with a bunch of sections (adorably named) to help you organize (All About the Bride, Ceremony, Reception, Wedding Party & Guests, Flowers Music & Photography, etc.) Each section has it's own plastic storage folder as well as page templates for each section (whether it's to list thank you notes or make a seating chart/list for the reception). The book also provides little hints/tips to help you keep things organized and eventful. I've been using it since I got engaged and have 14 more months to go until the wedding to keep using it.

The Knot Complete Guide to Weddings in the Real World
Bookstore shelves brim with wedding guides, and while this one might not offer earth-shattering planning advice, it's got just about everything a future bride and groom need to prepare for the big day. Editor-in-chief Roney, along with the editors of The Knot magazine and TheKnot.com, share their extensive knowledge about weddings in this friendly, revised and updated volume. The book addresses the basics, the tiny details and the things that most young couples don't realize that they need to know-such as that it's better to put an even number of guests at each reception table, so that everyone has a partner for conversation. Among the chapters are tips to take couples from pre-engagement to post-honeymoon planning, snapshots and stories of real weddings and answers to wedding FAQs, as well as general advice. Hiring a black limo, for instance, the authors reveal, is 10% percent cheaper than hiring a white one, and wedding videos should be stored upright and away from electronic equipment. At first glance, this book's hundreds of pages might make the whole process seem even more overwhelming, but Roney offers a thorough, friendly one-stop guide.

Your Stress-Free Wedding Planner: Experts' Best Secrets to Creating Your Dream Wedding
I have purchased four different wedding planners and miscellaneous wedding planning books over the last year and this is one worth buying. All the wedding related books I have purchased have some helpful things and some not so helpful things but this one I have not found a page in it that has not been helpful. The book breaks the planning process down into ten easy steps to simplify the planning process. This book also has a handful of different questionnaires for you and your fiancée to take. The wedding vision questionnaire helps you better understand each other's "dream" wedding and then helps you to make that into "our dream wedding". It also includes questionnaires for choosing a ceremony site, reception site, supplier questionnaires and many worksheets to help you plan your big day. As you will see if you look at reviews of the other event planning books by this author she knows what she is talking about when it comings to planning a corporate party or a wedding. I would highly recommend this book to anyone planning a wedding who would like to not go insane in the process.
